A Guide to Pool Table Assembly

A Guide to Pool Table Assembly By: Byran Kempa

You have ordered a beautiful new pool table online and have waited anxiously for it to arrive. Finally the big day comes! You wait by the curb as the delivery truck rolls up to your house and leaves you with a flat box containing your table in a multitude of pieces. Unless you happen to be an expert in pool table assembly, it appears you may not be playing pool anytime soon.

If you find yourself in the above situation, you are left with a few options. The simplest solution to your problem is to call a professional installer to come and assemble the table for you. If you can not find anyone of that description in the yellow pages, call up a local pool table dealer and see if they offer installation services, or if they can recommend an installation service provider. Of course, the one drawback to this option is a big one: hiring a professional to do the job will be expensive. If you are really anxious to get playing pool and have the money, however, this will be your best choice.

If you would rather keep your money in your own pocket, you can assemble the table yourself. Just be sure to give yourself an afternoon to do it, and be sure to invite a few buddies over to lend you a hand. And if you have to tempt them with beer, be sure to bring out the alcohol after the pool table is put together.

When assembling your pool table, you should largely be able to follow the instructions included with the table. In the unfortunate situation that there are no instructions, assembly should still be relatively straightforward. A pool table at its most basic level consists of two parts: a pedestal and a table. Just set up the pedestal where you want the table to be, and place the table on top. Easy!

The most important thing to keep in mind with pool table assembly is to make absolutely sure that the table is level. If you miss this important step, then you might as well start all over. Check repeatedly throughout the assembly process with a level and again at the very end. If you do not bother to make sure your table is level, your celebratory game will end in disappointment as all the billiard balls slowly roll towards the top corner pocket after the first break!
