Knowhow-Now Article

Saskatoon may be bigger in terms of population, but Regina really comes into its own as the perfect place to relax and unwind. Situated in Canada’s famous prairies, Regina is like an oasis of calm (particularly for those on long arduous road trips). If you're planning to visit Regina, be sure to check out the following attractions:

Wascana Centre Park
You’ve never experienced a beautiful sunset until you’ve seen the sun setting over the calm, crystal waters of the lake in Wascana Centre Park. The walk around the lake takes around an hour and is perfect for those who want to unwind and get a little bit of exercise during their vacation in Regina. During the summer there are barbeques and it’s possible to take a canoe out onto the lake. Alternatively, during the winter, be sure to wrap up warm and grab some hot chocolate before leaving your hotel room.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Heritage Centre
Canada is famous for a few things: maple syrup, beavers and Mounties. One of the more iconic symbols of Canadian culture is their mounted police force, and there's no better place to learn about the Mounties than Regina. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Heritage Centre focuses on the history of the Canadian Mounties, from 1874 to today. The Centre also acts as a training school for young Mounties. With free entry and a gift-shop full of Mountie memorabilia, it’s a great place to while away a few hours on a cold Saskatchewan day.

Saskatchewan Science Centre
One for the young and the young at heart, the Saskatchewan Science Centre promotes playing while you learn. There’s plenty to explore within the centre, including a space station with a gyro-gym (similar to what astronauts are trained on) and a game of odds. The Science Centre is located in Wascana Centre Park, and houses the region’s only Imax theatre (in case you want to take in a film).

Regina Floral Conservatory
Flowers are a thing of beauty, and you can unwind in the Floral Conservatory surrounded by hundreds of beautiful, rare, and tropical plants. This is a free option which is a perfect way to spend a few hours, particularly in the winter when it’s bitterly cold outside but the flowers are still in full bloom inside the glasshouse.

Legislative Building
Despite sounding rather dry, the Legislative Building is another perfect place to spend some time whilst learning about the history of Regina. The building’s architecture is very grand and worth a few photographs alone. The ground floor galleries often host exhibitions, including those about the aboriginal history of Canada. The grand marble staircases are breathtaking, so be sure to take a guided tour so that you don’t miss anything of this historic building.

Thus, with so many things to do there, it’s hard to believe that anyone spends too much time in their Regina hotels. With its delicious restaurants, bustling nightlife, and independent shops, it's easy to create a jam-packed itinerary.
