Green tea contains catechin polyphenols that encourages muscles and the liver to increase their usage of fatty acids. Using fatty acids slows down the body’s rate of carbohydrate consumption. An increase in carbohydrates allows exercisers to workout longer and burn more calories.

Reduces Rates of Fat Absorption and Regulates Glucose

The catechins in green serve another purpose. They prevent glucose form entering fat cells. The tea also regulates glucose levels. It deters the rise of glucose in blood sugar after meals. Limiting the amount of glucose in the blood prevents insulin spikes. Too much insulin in the blood can cause high levels of fat storage.

Lowers the Amount of Fat Deposits

The amount of fat that the body can store is determined the amounts and size of the fat cells, adipocytes. Adipogenesis is the process that creates these cells. Once fat cells are created, they can reproduce to create large fat tissue. The increase the body’s fat cells allow the body to store more fat. Green tea stops the fat cells from being able to multiply, decreasing the amounts of fat that the body can store.

Weight loss is one of the health benefits of drinking green tea. While it should not be thought of a miracle drink, it has been proven to be highly effective. Drinking two or three cups of green tea a day will help create calorie burning energy, reduce sugar levels in the blood and limits the body’s ability to store fat.
