How to be a Successful Teen outside the Limelight

One famous teen who gained instant fans through his songs on YouTube is Justin Beiber. He is one of the top celebrities in Forbes under the age of 30. Miley Cyrus with her Hannah Montana reputation made multi-million empires both in and out of Disney. Of course, who can forget Emma Watson from the film series Harry Potter who is now a model for huge fashion lines and is one of the wealthiest teens having achieved a $40 million net worth as of April 2012. These Hollywood teen icons really know how to be successful in and out of the limelight.

Many kids dream of becoming big stars one day. Some of them are lucky enough to make it; that goes to show that teens can also be successful. However, aside from the Hollywood glam life, there are other ways that teens can be successful in their own rights.

Here are some tips on how to be a successful teen outside of the limelight.

• Concentrate and work hard on studying. School maybe very boring at times, but never let the tediousness of school lessons eat you up. Education can make you a productive member of the society. Always work hard and be determined to be the best in school and in everything you do. Be sure to listen to the teachers, finish homework on time, study hard, read in advance, and earn good grades. Doing well in school can improve a student’s chance of being admitted in the best universities and in finding a job in the future.

• Be active in helping the community. Aside from the fact that your community status improves this way, this can also make you feel important and contented as a person. Doing this is good for a teen’s emotional issues because this can help improve one’s disposition, confidence, and fight depression.

• Set your goals and work hard to attain it. For teens to be successful, they need to work hard towards achieving their goals. Teens need to choose the path they need to take. Whether these goals are for their careers, relationships, or hobbies, success is possible when you work hard for it.

• Develop a good attitude. Be kind and respectful to your teacher and parents. This is important because they are the ones to help you achieve your goals. They may have different opinions and sometimes they can be annoying, but understand that they are just trying to help.

• Always try to stay out of trouble. Avoid vices such as cigarettes, alcohol .and drugs because these are the usual reason for committing criminal offenses and violations. If you won’t, you are going to end up at the back of a police car, in a hospital, or worse.

• Birds of the same feathers. Find good influences for friends. Find those types who are as goal-oriented, as determined to succeed, and as dedicated in studies. Being with the right friends can steer you away from temptations that are deterrents to your aspirations.

• Do what you love and love what you do. Passion is enough reason to strive hard for success. It is true that a person can never be successful unless one is earnestly committed and passionate to succeed in that endeavor.

Learning how to be a successful teen is hard just as it is hard to be a successful parent, doctor, teacher, lawyer, etc. Saying that ‘a teen simply needs to strive and be goal-driven,’ is not enough. Nevertheless, if you are determined to succeed, there is a way. That starts by being a diligent student. Not every teen will go to Hollywood, and success is not only measured by how much money you earn there. There is more to life than Hollywood, but admirable teens like Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Emma Watson are good icons to emulate.
