Everyone can and would like to be a better person. Sometimes, though, it's hard to decide which changes need to be made, and where to begin in making them. By following the article below you can become a better person physically, intellectually, emotionally, and financially--and the challenges are not too great to tackle on your own.
Read more, and become a more knowledgeable person. Begin with reading up on current events. Have a good understanding of the your country's political system, specific positions within the government, and who holds them. Understand some foreign policy matters, and a touch of history. Find out what your stance is within your political system, and how you feel about political issues and issues of international importance. You do not need to be a person who flaunts your intelligence, but instead be ready to offer an informed opinion when asked.
Become a better leader, particularly at work. If you already hold a leadership position, strive to be the best in that position. Reflect on your own behaviors and compare them to other leaders within your office and around the world. Ensure you are who you would like to be in the workplace. If you are not in a leadership position, strive to get one-- if that is your goal. Dress to impress every day, work hard, and do it quietly without drawing negative attention to yourself. Own up to your errors and stand up for what you believe is correct.
Quit decidedly bad habits. Stop smoking, drinking, eating unhealthy foods, et cetera. You are the master of your own body and therefore should control what goes into it. Take control of the substances you consume and work at eliminating addictions.
Try new things. Don't be afraid to fail. If you dislike something new you'd tried, you can at least say so with confidence that you don't like it. If you never try it, you can never say you don't like it and be sure. If you fail at something, you can chock it up to it being your first time doing it, and at least take pride in knowing you tried at all.
Get your life and environment organized. Write things down, make a schedule, clean your office or apartment, and set yourself up in an environment where you will succeed.
Learn to love yourself. Know that if you don't love yourself, it will be more difficult for others to love you. Accept your imperfections as faults in your own manufacturing, and embrace them if you cannot change them.
Learn to let go of, and not hold resentment for, the things you cannot control or change. Maintaining anger over a situation you had no control over wastes your energy and promotes bad feelings in your mind.
Finding out what to change is very difficult, if you don't know where to start. However, given these ideas, hopefully you can begin to start building your own development plan and begin to change your life-- for the better.
