Knowhow-Now Article

For the first time painter, painting can seem very difficult. But experienced painters know that there is a knack to doing anything. And the way to getting perfect colour on your walls is to make sure that you prepare properly. It’s easy enough to slather on a couple of layers of paints on your walls – but the real work is done behind the scenes. The preparation is simple too. First, you need to clean out your room. Cover any mouldings or wall sockets with painters tape if you can’t remove them temporarily. Make sure any furniture is removed and stored away carefully where they won’t be ruined by your home painting efforts. The best thing you can do if you can’t take them out of the room is to cover them with plastic coverings, so that anything that falls on the furniture doesn’t end up having to be replaced.

Once the space near the walls has been cleared out, you need to cover up the floor – plastic or paper should do. Then, you start cleaning the walls. Start with removing the old paint or wall paper. A good sand paper should help you to get rid of most of your troubles. But after that, remember to use soap water to give your wall a thorough cleansing. Let the wall dry completely before you begin the next step: priming. Many underestimate the importance of priming. Primarily it helps whatever paint you’ve chosen for your home decoration to adhere well to the walls. It also helps save you a coat or two of paint if you tint your primer suitably. If you choose the right kind of primer, you could even have a base coat that fights off fungus and mildew.

Now comes the actual application of colours to your walls. Feel free to use any of the faux finishes or just apply the standard solid coloured wall. Just get enough paint to cover a whole wall – otherwise you likely won’t be able to mix the exact colour again. Be sure to combine your shades in a way accommodating the trim. You can choose whether or not to have an accent wall. You can use a roller to paint a majority of the wall, and leave the edges or corners to be touched up last with a brush. Just remember that you’re working to make your interior design ideas a reality. At the end of the day, you need to look around your room and be happy with what you see.

You are ready to paint the home for very first time with confused feelings? No need to worry any more. Berger Caribbean could be only answer for all your painting problems. So just forget worry and start home decor.
