Everybody sees ballerinas as elegant, light, beautiful, and graceful. In fact, many factors contribute to the beauty of the dances that ballerinas do. Aside from the extreme diet and hard core training they go through, they also need to be comfortable in their classes, rehearsals and performances. One of the things that ballerinas need to be serious and disciplined about is putting their hair in a ballerina bun.
Ballerinas are disciplined about many things and putting their hair up every class and performance is one of them. Ballerinas jump high, spin and balance and they use their heads to do these steps properly. Hence, for them not to get distracted by hair covering their faces, they need to put it in a ballerina bun. Aside from the fact that ballerina buns help ballerinas dance properly, they as well make ballerinas look clean and neat.
However, not all ballerinas are good at putting their hair up in buns. There are also new ones who are curious as how do professionals make them. Here are steps on how to make the perfect ballerina bun.
• Water in a spray bottle
• Hair net that must be the same color as the hair
• Bobby pins
• Hair comb or brush
• Elastic Band
• Hair Gel
• Hair Spray
1. Step one is by spraying water all over the hair and hands. The water helps a ballerina get control over her hair. Pull the hair back into a ponytail. If the hair is extra unruly, use some hair gel.
2. With a hair brush, smooth out the uneven parts of the hair. Brush your hair until you hold everything up in a high ponytail. Ballerinas who prefer low buns can adjust the height of the ponytail. If one wants a low bun, put the ponytail directly above the nape of the neck. The place of the ponytail is going to determine the placement of the bun. Normally, if ballerinas need to wear head dresses for their costume, they need mid and low buns.
3. It is important for ballerinas to use coated elastic hair buns than scrunchies. Scrunchies are bulky and can make the bun look bigger. The key to making a good ballet bun is by drawing the hair snugly at the back.
4. To keep the head look neat and clean, apply hair gel all over. After that, twist the pony tail.
5. After twisting the ponytail, make a circle around by coiling it.
6. With the use of hair pins, secure the circle or bun. Slide hair pins on the side of the coiled hair, from the outer part going inside to the core of the bun. If hair is too long, try putting hair pins as you do the coiling.
7. Wrap the bun with a hair net. Make sure that the hair net tightly secures the bun. If this step is taken for granted, hair may stand up and the hair net may fall and sag while a ballerina is dancing. It is also important for ballerinas to use hair nets that have the same color as their hair. Also, a hair net is not going to secure the bun; rather, that is the job of the bobby and hair pins. The hair net just keeps the bun look clean and neat.
8. It is better for ballerinas who have longer hair to do a flat bun. This can be done by coiling the hair at the sides, outward from the center and pin it as you go.
9. The last step in making a neat and clean looking ballerina bun is by misting hairspray all over it.
Now you need not wonder anymore what goes behind those tight buns. Follow these steps for you to look like a professional ballerina.
