Information On What You Will Need To Prepare For Twins

Finding out that you were going to have a child was probably one of the best moments of your life. Finding out that you were having twins, however, was probably joyous and shocking. Planning for the arrival of one child is one thing, but two is a whole different story. If you are unsure of exactly what you will need to prepare for your two babies to come home, you should continue reading this article for the best advice.
The biggest initial expense, when having a child, is usually the purchase of a crib. Now that you know that you are having two children, you probably assume that you must purchase another crib. Luckily for you, especially if you are on a budget, this simply is not the case. Your babies are used to sleeping right next to each other, and are very likely to be happier if they are allowed to continue to do so. Coming into the world is a hard enough experience, and separating them from their twin will only make it harder. Keep in mind, however, that with time, you may need to eventually separate them, but their behavior will tell you when it is time. For the time being, it is probably best to just stick with the one crib. Most parents of twins find that their second crib goes unused for up to the first year.
When you were told you were having two babies you probably thought that you would need two of everything, but worry not, you definitely do not. When it comes to their clothing, you will only need slightly more clothing than you would need with one child. If you do not know the sex of your twins, buy and ask others to buy gender neutral clothing. Babies grow through their clothes so fast that it is pointless to spend tons of money on their clothing. Additionally, baby clothing is so small that a weeks worth of clothing does not even equal a full load of laundry. Additionally, you will not need double the baby blankets, wash cloths or other linens. It will be nice to have an extra set or two just in case, but more than that is unnecessary. Take the time to thoroughly consider exactly what you will actually need two of before you go out and buy duplicates of everything.
One thing you will definitely need two of are car seats. You probably already realized this, but it is important. The hospital will not allow you, by law, to leave the hospital with your babies unless you have two properly functioning car seats that are appropriate for infants. If you are unsure of what type of seats you will need, you can ask your physician or friends who have recently had children.
Just because you have been told you are having twins does not mean you will be forced to buy two of everything. Put the tips in this article to use so that you only buy what you need for your two new bundles of joy.
