Jazz Blues Music - When Two Genres Come Together

Today's styles and genres of music can be considered as 'versions' of the original music genres of yesteryears. Many purists, or music lovers who only stick to the original genres through the years, can say that music today is not as awesome as music in the early days.

Jazz and blues music were already making waves even before the inception of rock n' roll. These two separate genres have come together at one point to create a genre that combines the expressive and prominent vocals of the blues. In the early 20's, it was the African Americans who were extensively creating jazz blues music that featured their expressive and emotional renditions of life stories. Blues songs are typically formed in three-line stanzas and these are also referred to as 'bop' songs. Songs that have prominent blues licks are actually not blues songs, but they are often associated with each other due to their similarities.

Jazz blues music usually begins with a gradual steady beat, classic blues chords, and some instrumental improvs. Jazz instrumentation usually follows with a mixture of call and response, vocals, and improvs. Some of the jazz blues artists are: Lonnie Johnson - a firmly-rooted blues guitar player; Mose Allison - a jazz-oriented pianist; and the late Ray Charles - a soulful, genre-bending blues pianist.

Many bands have incorporated the improvisation of jazz music with the classic 3-chord blues. Some musicians who play blues, jazz, gospel, classical, pop, country, rock and roll, and R&B, have also incorporated this type of structure. Rock and roll's base has been patterned on this structure, but blues music has grown quite well and has flourished on its own even before the birth of rock and roll.

Jazz blues music has become a single entity and it is a genre that is quite inseparable. Its roots may not be as predominant as before, but its influence on many music genres and artists could be one of its most significant accomplishments. So don't be surprised to find quite a number of artists and radio stations that are still loyal to jazz blues music.

It is likely that you will find this music genre interesting and time-less because of its presence and popularity today.
