Knowhow-Now Article

Spending New Year's Eve in London is an experience like no other. The classic British capital takes on an especially festive persona during the holidays and it is often thought to be one of the best cities in which to celebrate the New Year. Every year on December the 31st, an eclectic mix of people - locals, tourists, young and old - gather together to countdown to midnight in unison. From trendy nightclubs to cosy pubs, swanky restaurants or packed street parties, London is filled with great places to celebrate the occasion.

Firstly, it's impossible to discuss London on New Year's Eve without mentioning the city's massive fireworks show, which takes place on the South Bank. For the best possible view, you can join fellow party-goers on the Westminster Bridge or along the north bank of the Thames (just opposite the London Eye). However, if you want to see the firework but stay out of the chilly January weather, you can find a nearby pub, restaurant or hotel which has a window-view of the 10-minute-long fireworks show.

One of the best ways to spend New Year's Eve in London is by dining out at one of the city's riverside restaurants, where you can enjoy a delicious meal while you wait for the hours to tick by until 12 o'clock. Some riverside restaurants include: Le Pont de La Tour, Yo!Sushi and Strada. Many of the city's restaurants offer special New Year's Eve menus and it's wise to book a table in advance.

If you're still up for celebrating after the countdown is over, you can head out to one of London's many trendy nightclubs. One of the city's most famous and popular clubs is Fabric. Based in Islington, Fabric is known for its revolutionary sound system and "bodysonic" dance floor. Other popular London clubs include: Ministry of Sound, one of the most-visited nightclubs in the city; Club Aquarium, complete with a pool and Jacuzzi; KOKO, a favourite among celebrities; and EGG, which features a large outdoor garden bar.

Since London is such a popular New Year's Eve destination, it is a good idea to book your flights/trains and accommodation in advance. Whether you wish to stay in luxury accommodation, hotels in an ideal location - be that hotels near London Victoria, Westminster, Chelsea or anywhere else in the city that suits - a cost-efficient hostel or a quaint guest house, rooms fill up fast during this peak holiday season.

Thus, whether you're up for partying all through the night or if simply want to experience London's festive beauty, the capital is a truly world-class New Year's Eve destination. Known for its vibrant and lively culture, it would be difficult to find a better place than London to ring-in the New Year.
