Astral projection, also often called as astral travel, is a type of out-of-body experience (OBE) in which a person’s astral body leaves the physical body to visit a realm where time and space have no meaning. This realm, which is known as the “astral realm”, exists together with the physical realm and different planes of existence. Today, more and more people are intrigued by out-of-body experiences as there is an increasing number of testimonies that describe the existence of such phenomenon.
There are quite a few astral projection techniques available to help people travel in the physical plane, journey to different times, visit the departed ones, and explore the various astral worlds. Note, however, that no universal technique works for everyone. To make astral projection possible, one has to dig into the different astral projection techniques and find one that best suits oneself. Below are some of the most basic and popularly used astral projection techniques that help induce astral travel.
1.) Monroe Technique
Devised by Robert Monroe, the Monroe technique is considered as among the easiest methods of astral projection. In this method, the first thing you need to do is to relax your body. Then, try to go to sleep while also trying hard to maintain your awareness between sleep and wakefulness. This state is known as the hypnagogic state. It’s very important that you heighten this state by clearing your mind of negative thoughts. After this, you must achieve an even deeper state of relaxation. You need to induce vibrations all throughout your body and intensify these so that your astral body can separate from your physical body. Then, you simply have to roll over to find yourself out of your physical shell.
2.) Rope Technique
Robert Bruce and, who is one of the most prominent figures in the world of astral projection, is the person behind the rope technique. The key to this technique is an imaginary rope hanging from the ceiling. The invisible rope will be used to exert pressure on your astral body to force its separation from your physical body. This technique is especially useful for people without sight as it relies more on tactile sensation than visual experience.
To perform this method, it is necessary that you lie on your bed and imagine the rope hanging down towards you from the ceiling. You will feel a little dizziness as you do this. Picture your astral self pulling on the rope one hand at a time while focusing on the sensations as you climb upwards. As you feel the vibrations throughout your body, continue to concentrate on climbing the rope. Keep on doing this until you feel your astral body leaving the physical.
3.) Thirst Technique
This astral projection technique, which was designed by Sylvan Muldoon, requires that you refrain from drinking for a couple of hours before going to bed. To perform this method effectively, you have to increase your thirst in any way you can throughout the day. Put a glass of water in front of you and stare at it (without drinking). Then, before going to sleep, eat a pinch of salt. Also, make sure that you place a glass of water at some place away from your bed before sleeping. Practice in your mind all the actions needed to get the glass. Then, you must go to bed still thinking about your extreme thirst and the ways to quench it. When everything is done well, you might awaken in your dream at night, find yourself walking towards the glass of water, and ultimately achieve out-of-body experience.
No astral projection techniques can be done without sufficient relaxation. In order to bring about the desired OBD, you have to master not just the techniques but also the ways to relax and achieve a state of trance.
