One of the things that I cannot emphasize enough for being successful at your business is a schedule. We have to remember that we have to shift our thinking from the typical Network Marketer’s thinking (that we can can do business whenever we feel like it and still make money), towards the successful person’s thinking. And that means that we have to do things in a systematic, organized way. If you do not maintain this mentality, your business will most likely fail, in my opinion. Here’s why:
A schedule will allow you to take on the role of both the employer and employee. Which means that you will give yourself accountability. It also helps you to see what things you need to get done, that will move your business forward. If you’ve got a J.O.B. , can you imagine your boss not giving you clear instructions on what you do for the day or for the week? If he didn’t, would you actually do any work at all? And if you did do any work, do you think it would be what your boss would have wanted you to do?
You see, having a clear plan written out on paper helps you to take your business more seriously – actually treating your business like a business. It also helps to give you a clear vision as to what you need to do to make some money. And because of that, it gives you a peace of mind and confidence that you WILL make money.
Take my “Success in 3 months” formula for an example. It goes over step by step what you need to do in order to have a successful marketing funnel in place. It gives clear instructions on what needs to be done in each phase. And along with each phase, it has a time period or deadline by which each thing should be done by.
Now, that brings up a good point. Time-frames or deadlines are super-important if you really want to make a goal a reality. I believe I’ve heard it been said before that goals are just dreams with deadlines! And isn’t that true? In order to make your dream a reality, you have to set out a specific step-by-step plan to achieve it. Then, make deadlines to put the stamp on it.
Remember, without deadlines, a plan has no force to it – it’s not real. It’s not taken seriously. For example, if you worked in an office and your boss told you to “file those papers later on”, when would you do it? You would probably do it when you got around to it, which could be never! But, if he told you, “File those papers, and I want it done by Monday at 3pm. Ah, that’s a totally different story, isn’t it? So, making specific plans with specific deadlines is critical.
So, let’s take action right now: Instead of haphazardly conducting our business, passing out random fliers, DVD’s, brochures, and business cards, and approaching random people, let’s make plans for success (remember: success cannot and does not come by accident).
Set a specific goal. Make a specific step-by-step plan. Put a deadline on each step (make sure that the steps and deadlines are realistic for you). And get crackin’! Plan for success. And it will undoubtedly come.
