Dieting and weight loss are possibly the two most misunderstood aspects of fitness. You see simply losing weight is not enough to make a person keep that weight off and to stay in really good shape. Weight loss is only the beginning, it is a lifestyle change that will keep you in great shape and feeling great about yourself.

Effecting the lifestyle change is the most difficult part of this whole process and it is something that must happen right when you begin the weight loss journey. In order to facilitate this change is important to understand how the body functions and how those functions will relate to your level of exercise and the food that you eat.

Tip: Avoid eating before bed to see weight loss results. While it is easier said than done, try to avoid eating directly before bedtime.

So let's first talk about exercise. The amount of activity you get on a daily basis will determine how much fat you can actually burn. You should aim to have roughly 60 min. each day of solid exercise in order to maximize the amount of weight loss you can achieve per week. The type of exercise you do does not have to be anything too strenuous. In fact you can achieve incredibly good results by just going on a hour-long walk each day. It is important to incorporate this type of active lifestyle into your overall mindset. Because if you do not mentally except that in order to stay in good condition for your whole life you must stay active, you will regress and put on all the weight that you lose.

If going on in hour-long walk is too much for you and for many people it can be hard to block out he sold our time, then just do what you can. If you could only manage a half-hour then do a half-hour. The point is that every day you should be doing something that gets you up and around.

Tip: Switch to baked potato chips. They are up to thirty percent lower in calories and fat and most people say that they can't tell much of a difference.

The next thing I want to hit on here is food for weight loss. People think that the types of food they eat while they're dieting should be different from the foods that they eat one they stopped dieting. That of course is a recipe for disaster. You do not want to be dieting, you want to be changing the way you live your life and changing the foods you eat on a daily basis for the rest of your life. A crash diet can lose weight very fast, but because you did not effect a lifestyle change in yourself you will put that weight on faster than you lost it.

The types of food you should be eating for the rest of your life and not just when you're dieting should be a diet that consists primarily of fruits and vegetables and that is offset by a small portion of protein. The most ideal protein to eat is going to be fish or chicken because this is very lean meat and in the case of fish it has collagen in it which helps to keep your skin nice and smooth.
