Effects Of Prostate Hypertrophy In Aging Men

In male anatomy, the prostate gland is a small passageway or tube just beneath the bladder. It is where the ejaculatory fluids containing sperm are being transported. As men get older, they become prone to Prostate Hyperplasia also known as Prostate Hypertrophy. It is the enlargement of the prostate gland. There are a lot of reasons why more and more men are being diagnosed with it. Apparently, it is most common among men aged 40 and above. This is why they should subject themselves by getting regularly checked upon reaching the said age to make sure they don?t have any problem with their prostate.

Prostate Hypertrophy can greatly affect a man?s ego as it can significantly affect a man?s sexual performance. Being the one responsible for a man?s ejaculation. It can be a big blow on men psychologically because of possible sexual dysfunction. Along with this, it can also be presumed that there is a great chance of decreased libido especially as men grows with age. Another important thing to note is that enlarged prostate can also cause little to major damage on a man?s urinary bladder which can lead to incontinence or serious kidney malfunction.

Although it has not been fully established what could be causing Prostate Hypertrophy. Often times to avoid being too worried about whether you have it or not, you may want to observe yourself and see if you are having difficulty in urinating or you can have your doctor run some tests just to be sure. If it is confirmed, there are medications which can be used to treat it as long as they are maintained regularly.

There are also some surgical procedures that can be administered in order to correct the problem. It is also important to note that Prostate Hypertrophy is different from Prostate cancer and can still be treated with proper medical management. It is not exactly fatal and it is fairly common among middle aged men. The only thing needed to address this is to be fully aware of it so it can be prevented.
