Tip: Change positions often to avoid putting undue pressure on specific muscles. As you tidy your home, prepare dinner or do any other type of repetitive activity, make an effort to limit the duration for which you perform such tasks.

Get a massage if your back pain is caused by your muscles. Invest in a good vibrating pad to relax your muscles at home. Applying a hot treatment to your back should be helpful too. Lay down on a hot towel or take a warm bath. If the hot treatment is not enough for your back, alternate it with a cold treatment. Apply a cold pack on your back or place a wet towel in your freezer for a few minutes.

Tip: Lay down with your knees at a 90 degree angle to your hips. Sitting this way increases your comfort level while reducing pressure so that your back stops hurting.

A chiropractor should be able to help you with your back pain. Find a good chiropractor in your area and schedule monthly appointments. Getting your back adjusted should make the pain disappear if your spine is bothering you. You should get some adjustments on a regular basis to prevent the back pain from coming back. Seeing an acupuncturist is another option you should explore. Acupuncture is an excellent way to relieve your stress and get rid of muscle pain.

Tip: Stretch your back muscles throughout the day to keep them loose and relaxed. Don't twist around during the day.

Your doctor will more than likely prescribe you some pain killers to get rid of your chronic back pain. Taking pain killers should make the pain go away but do not assume that you are well enough to lift heavy things. You could cause some damage to your back if you are not careful. Pain killers are a good option if you cannot find another way to relieve your pain but keep in mind that you will eventually develop a resistance to these medications.
