Many articles had been written about the science of astrology. A person when asked can probably say something about the subject but knows little or no information at all about the personalities who made predictions that changed the course of history. These people are called astrologers. According to Wikipedia, an astrologer is one who is engaged in the practice of one or more forms of astrology. His typical job is to draw a horoscope of a certain event and to make an interpretation based on interplanetary points and positions. Some of these people became famous astrologers and became part of human history because of their impact to the society.
To be recognized in the field of astrology, it takes more than drawing a birth chart and making an accurate interpretation. Famous astrologers obtained their name and fame because of their extraordinary accomplishments, contributions, and associations with other famous historical figures. These are some of them.
• John Dee (1527 – 1609). John Dee is referred to as the Queen’s Conjurer because of his association with Queen Elizabeth I of England. He lived during the Renaissance period and was considered an accomplished person in other fields other than astrology. He was also a mathematician, astronomer, and geographer. Being an astrologer, he also delved on the occult and studied it alongside science. He contributed greatly to the Scientific Revolution.
• Johannes Kepler (1571 – 1630). Johannes Kepler is of German descent who specialized in astrology, astronomy and mathematics. During his time, the science of astrology was studied together with astronomy. He was credited for his works that led to many scientific discoveries including his famous theory on planetary motion laws.
• William Lilly (1602 – 1681). This famous English astrologer specialized in interpreting astrological charts. He excelled in horary astrology, which is the study of the skies to generate answers to certain questions. He was involved in a controversy regarding one of his predictions. He foretold of the Great Fire of London in 1652. It took 14 years before it actually occurred. Some people accused Lilly of starting the fire to make the event happen according to his prediction.
• Evangeline Smith Adams (1868 – 1932). Evangeline Adams, a famous American astrologer is known for the many books she wrote about astrology. She established one of the earliest consulting businesses engaged in the science. Because of her fortune telling activities, she was arrested twice. The story goes that she gained an acquittal after giving the judge an astrology reading.
• Marc Edmund Jones (1888 0 1980). Another American astrologer, Marc Edmund Jones is a notable figure in American astrology. He was also a screenwriter whose aim is to regain the image of astrology as a serious and rational science. During his time, astrology was mostly treated as a fortune telling activity. He is responsible for writing many books on astrology. He is claimed to have co-authored astrology’s Sabian Symbols.
• Jeane Dixon (1904-1997). The most famous astrologer in American history during the 20th century, Jeanne L. Dixon is credited for her unforgettable prediction about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. She also authored many books including her best-selling biography. She became more famous because people can read her minor predictions through her syndicated astrology column in one of the leading American newspaper.
These famous people are being honored and given a place in history because of their significant contributions and accomplishments during their time. At present, many scientists have the makings of becoming famous astrologers. A big difference can be seen between them and the well-known astrologers in the past. If today’s astrologers can make accurate readings about themselves, they will be able to see the time when the spotlight is on them, being revered as great astrologers of their period.
