Preparation For Beginner Acoustic Guitar Lessons

If there were one instrument that can perform better than drums or a piano, it would have to be the acoustic guitar. Indeed, no matter how grand a crescendo the drums can create and how melodiously sweet the music coming from a piano is, these don’t even come close to the gorgeous melody produced by a six-string acoustic guitar. This could probably be the reason why some people are clamoring to take acoustic guitar lessons online. Here are some old and new artists who use guitars during performances: B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Taylor Swift, David Cook, and many more. This is proof that the guitar is inarguably number one when it comes to popularity, sound, and overall appeal.

How many men have wooed women using their guitars? Obviously, there’s a lot. The guitar is something that has been consistently used over the years to win the hearts of women (and even men in some cases). Hence, it’s not surprising why many people want to learn how to play it. If you were one of those eager to learn acoustic guitar playing, it would be a good idea to learn how to play the acoustic guitar first. Once you have mastered playing songs on an acoustic guitar, it would be easier for you to graduate to other types of guitars.

When you take acoustic guitar lessons for beginners, you first need to familiarize yourself with the different parts of an acoustic guitar. There’s the sound box where the sound waves vibrate in order to produce sound. Most guitarists believe that if the sound box is bigger, the sound it produces has better quality. Next is the neck, which is the long, narrow portion of the guitar. On top of it are the six tuning heads, which are crucial for loosening and tightening the guitar strings to fine-tune the sound. You’ll find the fingerboard and frets along the length of the neck. The last part (and probably the most essential) is the strings. On an acoustic guitar, there are six strings differing in thickness. The thickest corresponds to note E, then there’s B, G, D, A (each one corresponding to a string), and the thinnest string is note E.

There are many easy acoustic guitar lessons that you can find on the Internet. Nevertheless, you would never be successful with your endeavors if you don’t know the basic steps for beginners. The first thing you need to do is to have a feel of the guitar. Guitars are generally made for right-handed players. Hence, you need to hold the guitar horizontally where you left hand can hold the neck and your right hand lays on the sound box to strum the strings. Remember that the strings are laid out with the thickest at the top-most position (assuming you’re right-handed). Therefore, if you are left-handed, you should have the guitar strung to the opposite way.

Next, you need to learn how to tune the acoustic guitar. Tuning is something you do every time you attempt to play the guitar. Although you can use a piano, another guitar, or a pitch pipe to tune the E string on your guitar, the easiest way to go about it is to buy an electronic guitar tuner. The manual that comes with it gives a detailed instruction on how to tune your guitar accurately and quickly. Now comes the best part, which is playing the guitar. Quite often, learning is more fun if the lessons are visual. Therefore, it would be a good idea if you watch an acoustic guitar lessons video while tinkering with your guitar.

Remember that each time you pluck the strings of the guitar, the vibrations create the sound that forms every single note you play. This means that whatever comes out from the guitar would depend on how you handle the strings of the guitar. When holding down or tapping the notes on the fret, make sure that you only use your fingertips. If you hold down too much, the notes that would come out would be muffled, and that wouldn’t sound right. The general idea of music is to play the notes harmoniously. Hence, you need to hit the strings at the right place and at the right time. By keeping these simple tips in mind and endeavoring to read chords and tabs as best you can, you would be playing your acoustic guitar like a pro in no time.
