Knowhow-Now Article

The holiday season is all about fun, family, friends and festivities. Throwing a Christmas party can be a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday with the people you love. Though the idea of hosting a large event may seem stressful, there are really only three basic components needed for a great Christmas party.

Firstly, music is a key ingredient to any successful Christmas party. Music sets the mood of your party and can help people get into the festive spirit. When making your party playlist, it's a good idea to include crowd-pleasing Christmas tunes that will get people on their feet. Christmas parties are no time for musical-snobbery, and it's often the case that the cheesiest songs end up being the ones that go over the best with your party guests. It's also important to remember that, though there are a lot of good Christmas ballads and lullabies, a party is not the right time for them. Playing a slow song like "Silent Night" will likely kill the mood.

Secondly, a great Christmas party needs food and beverages. Even if your party isn’t a dinner party, it's still a good idea to have snacks, such as bowls of mixed nuts or crisps, in case party guests get peckish during the evening. As for beverages, if your party is fairly casual, you can ask guests to bring their own beverages so that everybody is able to drink what they like. Otherwise, wine and beer for adults and fizzy drinks for children are always a good bet.

Finally, a Christmas party wouldn't be complete without festive decorations. Some of the best places to get inspiration for your party décor are hotels, which often go all out during the holidays. Hotels across the UK feature festive, seasonal decorations throughout the entire month of December. From hotels in the south of England to the edinburgh hotels in Scotland, you can use these enchanting buildings as a muse for your own holiday decorating. Though the most traditional of all Christmas decorations is the Christmas tree, you can also hang fresh pine garlands with twinkly fairy lights around your doorways for an extra cosy atmosphere. If you don't have the benefit of natural snow, you can use fake snow spray to decorate the edges of your windows. Though you might think you're going over-the-top, decorations are a great way to get party guests in the festive mood and you can never really over-decorate.

Thus, the three essential components of a great Christmas party are music, food and decorations. Though these are just the basic elements of a successful shindig, without them a party wouldn't be a party. Though you can go into more detail, making fancy invitations, planning party games and putting together gift bags, all that you really need is tasty snacks/beverages, Christmas music and festive decorations.
