Understanding Prostatic Hypertrophy And Avoiding It

Health issues may be starting to be a common concern for men who are approaching or over the age of 50. One common health issue can be about one?s prostate. To be more specific, turn your attention to prostatic hypertrophy. This may also be confused with prostatic hyperplasia but to be clear, they are one and the same. This type of prostatic issue may not necessarily be fatal. There is of course benign prostatic hypertrophy or hyperplasia (BPH). This should not be a cause of major alarm since a man approaching his 50?s will be prone to this condition.

What are the symptoms to see if you have BPH? This will be more evident during times when you void your bladder. Prostatic hypertrophy is an enlargement of the prostate gland, which then could press on the urethra and obstruct the flow of urine. You may notice the need to void your bladder more often than you got used to. And when you do get to a urinal, you may experience hesitancy in which you would have to wait before streaming. There is also a chance that your stream may stop and start intermittently.

Remember that we void our bladder for a very important reason, this is one of the ways our body secretes wastes. Prostatic hypertrophy could prevent us from doing this more efficiently. Due to the obstruction to the urine flow, there is an increased chance for you to get UTI or urinary tract infection. This can be a progressive disease if left untreated. Bladder stones can also form from the crystallization of salts from the residue of urine. One major result of this disease that can really cause concern is if you totally lose the ability to void your bladder since this can then lead to renal failure.

If you are a man approaching your 50?s then it would be best to start getting yourself checked by a proctologist. This can still be managed and avoided. If you have it, it can still be treated. What you need is a change in lifestyle. Start avoiding products with caffeine and alcohol will be a very good start.
