Knowhow-Now Article

Most of us are never likely to get the opportunity to actually walk down a red carpet dressed head to go in designer gear and styled to perfection. Yet it is fair to say that more often than not we look on with envy at the glamorous and impeccably stars to whom such an experience is almost routine. However, there is nothing to stop you emulating their polished perfection when attending an important function or event of your own.

The first thing to do is get some inspiration! Have a flick through some magazines or browse online at your favourite celebrities’ red carpet style. Decide whether you prefer all out vintage glamour, understated chic or perhaps a more quirky and modern look? The most dramatic red carpets looks are often seen at award shows such as the Oscars or charity galas. Try and find some pictures from any of these types of event, it can help you to not only get some ideas but also avoid those looks that may be considered a bit too fashion forward (hello, Lady Gaga!).

Picking your outfit is the next step. Take care not to choose something that you feel uncomfortable in – there is nothing glamorous about not be able to breathe in a dress that is too tight or constantly tugging down the hem of a skirt that is too short. Think about the occasion as well – for example ladies day at the races may not be the ideal place to wear a floor sweeping gown. And remember, red carpet style doesn’t automatically mean you have to wear a dress - many celebrity females have been spotted wearing suits or trousers at events.

Of course, many of us feel women's shoes are one of the most important elements of any outfit. And this is almost certainly the opinion of the glamorous celebrities who walk down the red carpet. Whether or not their dress is floor length or mid thigh, you can be guaranteed their shoes will not only compliment the overall look but in many cases, add a style statement of their very own. Hair and make up is an essential part achieving your red carpet look. While we may not all be able to afford the luxury of having a personal beautician and hairdresser, there are some great products on the market at the moment that make it easier than ever to perfect your look. And if in doubt, why not get a friend to help you? Two heads are better than one after all, especially when it comes to some of the trickier ‘hair up’ styles that are frequently seen on the red carpet.

Once you have put together your perfect red carpet look, all that is left to do is find the finishing touch - a handsome, tuxedo clad gentleman to accompany you to your event!
