Appreciating Grace And Control In Ballet Dance Moves

A ballerina is looked up to by many because they can inspire people. One can’t help but appreciate the efforts put in by a ballerina to excel in the hardest type of dance there is. That makes being a ballerina a fleeting dream for many and a reality reserved only for a few. A ballet dancer’s grace and poise is like no other because this is accompanied by strength and control. Staying up on pointes is a challenge for the dancer and an enigma for non-dancers. Imagine dancing and smiling while putting all your body weight on your toes, balancing and looking as if everything is easy, light and natural. A dancer’s love for the ballet dance moves is the foundation that anchors them to dancing despite the pain and pressure it brings.

Ballerinas work harder than any other dancer. Before they become professionals and before they get lead roles, they need to go through a lot of intensive training to get all of those muscles working. With strength and grace they can be very versatile; this means that they can perform almost every kind of dance. That makes ballet the perfect training for people who want to become great dancers in whatever field of dance they want to pursue and excel. The most challenging task that ballerinas are faced with throughout their career is the need to gracefully and smoothly execute ballet movements with precision, control and strength.

All ballet dancers dream of having big and challenging roles like Princess Aurora and Princess Florine in Sleeping Beauty or the roles of Odette and Odile in Swan Lake. Performing pas de deux , a male-female dance, which require a lot of coordination and strength for all the lifts are also similarly coveted. These roles and dances are the most-awaited parts in a recital or show. These roles are very demanding but can bring out the best in a ballerina. To get these roles, intensive training is mandatory. Ballerinas need to work out their strength because these big roles will not be easy. These require ballerinas to, not only learn but, master the different ballet dance moves and work on their techniques.

In Sleeping Beauty, the most awaited dances are the variations of Princess Aurora and Princess Florine as well as their pas de deux with their respective partners. The ballet moves which are highlighted in the variation of Princess Aurora include battlement relev?s. Battlement is a French word which means “kick” and relev? is a movement that entails the ballerina executing a demi pointe or pointe; thus, it’s a kick on demi pointe or pointe. Lots of lifts and turns characterize the pas de deux of Princess Aurora and Prince Florimund’s. One of the ballet moves that is a commonly performed in the finale of most choreographies is the fish dive. The fish dive is a lift wherein the danseur supports the ballerina in a poisson position.

The Blue Bird on the other hand highlights ballet dance moves such as echapp?s which means to escape and fouett? which means whipped. The fouett? comes from a battlement kick then the body is turned in order for the lifted leg to end up in arabesque or attitude. Princess Florine’s variation also includes piqu? turn which is a step out turn in pass?. Being a blue bird, Princess Florine’s arms are in the port de bras or arm positions like the wings of a bird. In her pas de deux, lifts and supported turns are also plenty and the most highlighted lift is the blue bird lift. In this lift, Princess Florine is carried by her prince on his shoulder. Ballerinas who want this role need to have back strength because an arched back is going to be needed to make the lift to be successful.

Swan Lake is one ballet masterpiece that will be eternally loved by ballet aficionados. The role of Odette, the White Swan, is a great contrast to the role of Odile, the Black Swan. Both are very challenging because technique is not the only thing that a ballerina must have to land any of these roles. They need to have acting prowess and great stage presence to give justice to their clashing characters. Odette must execute her ballet dance moves in a smooth, flowing manner while Odile must exhibit moves that are fierce and snappy. Doing both roles is so dramatic and exacting that only a few can master.

There is really no mystery about the ballet dance moves and the dancers’ persona. It is their dedication and motivation to the craft and their years of unwavering commitment and passion that make each dancer special.
