Knowhow-Now Article

Traditional summer holidays will always be popular but many people are now opting for the chance to escape the UK’s grey skies and indulge in some cheap winter sun instead.

Just because our fair British Isles are less than blessed when it comes to winter weather, that doesn’t mean the rest of the world is the same. You’ll find plenty of destinations to pick from if you like the sound of jetting off to warmer climes.

One of the many plus points of opting for a winter break is that you’ll find resorts are much quieter than during the main holiday season. Also the temperatures will still be delightful, and a welcome change to whatever you’d find at home, but you won’t face the stifling heat that can often occur during the hot summer months.

When choosing a country to visit you’ll be spoilt for choice. The Canary Islands are warm during the British winter months. With great nightlife and fantastic restaurants, they’re ideally suited for all the family and less than a four-hour flight away. Pick between Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote; all have something different to offer amongst their fantastic natural scenery and great beaches.

Egypt provides holidaymakers with sundrenched beaches and fantastic water sports opportunities. The Red Sea Riviera is known for its snorkeling and diving and with year-round great weather, beautiful coral reefs and a rich history and culture to explore, it’s a brilliant destination for a winter break.

Further afield you’ll find the Caribbean. Wander along the white sandy beaches before dipping your toe into inviting crystal clear waters. Immerse yourself in the slower pace of life, relax and go with the flow! The island of Antigua is a top pick due to its quaint English style.

Florida is hugely popular amongst families wanting some sun but also some fun. Orlando is the most-visited resort, with Disney right on the doorstep. You can hardly go wrong with somewhere known as the Sunshine State!

If you’re looking for a laidback resort with an interesting nightlife then why not choose Goa? It has grown to become a haven for chilled out beach lovers wanting an exotic destination jam packed with new sights and sounds to explore.

If you prefer the idea of a city break rather than a beach holiday then you’ll still have plenty of destinations to choose from for a cheap winter sun break. Mainland Spain and the South of France offer resorts that are quick and easy to reach and also provide excellent weather alongside culture and style.
