Camping Out With Your Backpacking Hammock

Going out on a camping can be a nightmare for some. Not only does it involve a lot of hassles and inconveniences in leaving the comforts of home but it also entails so much trouble in bringing all necessities for the entire duration of a camping escapade. All of these need not stop you from pursuing your zeal to explore the great outdoors because there is such a thing as a backpacking hammock. Carrying one of them can make you always look forward to having your next commune with nature.

Advantages of a Backpacking Hammock

• The hammock boasts of its lightweight feature. A camper does not have to make frequent stops to soothe his aching back because with this type of camping hammock he does not tire easily from carrying along some heavy loads.

• Campers can settle at any safe spot to rest. There is no need to find a flat surface to pitch tents. Backpack hammocks make it possible to set up a camp at any convenient location.

• Although there are other lightweight shelters, they are nothing more than that. Using them still requires campers to bring a separate sleeping pad. That is what differentiates a backpack hammock from the rest. You get to tick off the sleeping pad from your packing list because the hammock offers sleeping comfort right out of your backpack. As a result, you are one load lighter.

• This type of hammock provides more amount of protection. They are good shelters that can serve as your shield when rain or snow falls. They can also screen out bugs from pestering you.

• They only occupy little space for storage while you are off from your outdoor sprees. They can easily fit in any available space in your car trunk or behind your seat always ready just in case you suddenly decide to go on an unplanned camping trip.

Of course, there is always a downside with things. The same is true with this type of hammock. It has only sufficient space for a person. Couples will not enjoy it because they cannot share it together so they will have to carry their own individual hammock. Another problem encountered is those bits of rainwater tracing down the ropes and washing down the ends of the hammock. Seasoned campers simply tied a string to the ropes to provide another route for the rainwater instead of flowing directly to the hammock. Necessity is indeed the mother of ingenuity.

Common Types

The most common type of this is the mosquito hammock with its built in feature that makes it difficult for mosquitoes and other insects to get in. It has fine nylon mesh that keeps out insects. This type is commonly used to provide campers continuous, sound sleep while they set camp in areas pestered or infested by disease-carrying insects.

Another type is the camping hammock. It is designed for hot climates. It is great for camping because it is lightweight and easy to use. It is also designed to keep out insects. It is the type popular among boy scouts because it folds easily and dries quickly.
Which camper has a liking to sleep on the ground despite being sheltered inside a tent? There is always that fear of being attacked by bugs and insects while deep in sleep. Despite the mattress that serves as cushion, there is still that irritating feeling of rocks and sticks scratching your back. Most of all there is that greatest fear of snakes crawling and coiling or slithering inside your sleeping bag. No camper wants to be disturbed in their sleep after a day’s trek in the jungle because of some uncomfortable thoughts. With a backpacking hammock, even nature sleeps peacefully with you.
