The DSA theory test is in two sections. The first is a multiple-choice questions(computerised touch screen test) in which you have to choose the correct answer. Hazard perception test is the second part of the test which contains a set of video clips of driving hazards and you have to click the mouse button as soon as you spot a hazard. You have to pass both sections of the theory test at the same sitting in order to pass.

First sections: multiple-choice questions -
Before start the test, The instructions will be given on how the test works. You can also choose to go through a practice session of the questions to know the formate of the test. The real test will begin after the end of the practice session.

You will be asked randomly generated set of questions from DSA official theory test question bank. Optional Questions will be shown on the touch screen computer and you have to select the correct answer. Some questions may require more than one answer.

Second section: hazard perception test -
This section of the theory test, you have to view 14 hazard video clips of approximately one minute each on the computer screen of . As if you were the driver You are required to watch these clips. There will be 15 hazards and you have to find at least one on each clip. However, one clip will have 2 hazards. The hazard perception test clips will not any sound.

The hazard clips feature different types of hazard, such as pedestrians, vehicles and road conditions. You should respond by pressing a mouse button as soon as you see a hazard developing that may result in the driver having to take some action, such as direction or changing speed. As soon as the developing hazard is spotted, and your response made, the higher the score.
Candidates can score up to five marks on each hazard and the test contains 15 score able hazards.

The speed at which you click the mouse button as a hazard develops will determine your score for that particular hazard perception clips. In each hazard you can score between 0 and 5.
