The year 2012 began with a boom for the Indian auto industry as it witnessed many exciting cars at display at the 11th Auto Expo 2012 that was held in Delhi. There were many well-known car makers in attendance at the event that actually did the optimum utilization of this platform, by showcasing their ‘other’ brand of vehicles, which include their subsidiary and acquired ones products. This exhibition was basically their intention to bring in some ‘more’ brands of their own in order to present Indian consumer with a crisp variety.

Now, let’s see the interesting array of new brands that is knocking at the Indian doors. And soon will see their full fledged official launch.

Nissan Datsun

Moving to ones that are still to come, there is Datsun brand small cars to arrive via Nissan in India by 2014 through Auto Expo. The competitively priced cars will be manufactured keeping in mind the commuting needs of a customer in developing countries. The mini car models will all start with under Rs 4 Lakh and is expected to end up at nearly Rs 5 Lakh. These Datsun cars will be highly fuel efficient, budget friendly and light weight. These small cars will bang with Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Eon in the price war.

Volkswagen Porsche

Germany based premium auto giant Volkswagen will soon bring in its prominent premium luxury brand Porsche in the country. The first vehicle to register its entry will be Porsche 911 Carrera GT. The iconic 911 (pronounced as Nine Eleven) will see a retro styling with extremely powerful engine specification of 3.5L boxer engine with 7-speed manual gearbox. The 2013 model of Porsche 911 Carrera GT will boast 90% reworked aspects.

Renault Dacia

French auto major Renault, that is now a known name in the country is all geared up to launch its Romania based Dacia brand, under its own badge with Renault Duster, which is essentially a Dacia product. The compact SUV is expected to launch by festive season of Diwali this year. The price range of this five-seater mini SUV would land around Rs. 6 to 7 lakh, which is quite competitive and pocket friendly.

Fiat Jeep

The last on the list is Jeep. Fiat will bring in Jeep brand in India very soon. Jeep; an American automobile manufacturer and a part of Chrysler Group, is said to be the senior most of all SUVs with off-roading capabilities like 4X4 mechanism. The target consumers will be high net worth individuals looking for classy style statement as the price will range from Rs 23 Lakh to Rs 35 Lakh. The exquisite adventurous models include Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty along with Jeep Wrangler. This famous brand is expected to debut by year end.

BMM MINI

It was initially German luxurious car maker, BMW that showed the way to others with the launch of MINI marquee range of cars in India. The response was commendable as it successfully bagged 100 bookings in merely 6 days of its debut. The MINI by BMW comprise of MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Cooper Countryman S. Out of the two, Countryman S was presented in choice of petrol as well as diesel.

Ssangyong cars by homegrown M&M

The majority of foreign carmakers will be seen introducing their brands in the country. Well, the absenteeism of an Indian automaker is felt. Here it comes; the utility major will soon unleash the promising premium models of its South Korean acquired brand Ssangyong. The first to come is luxury SUV Mahindra Rexton that is believed to see a festive launch by October 2012, followed by more superior Mahindra Korando next year. Apart from these SUVs it will also introduce luxury saloon in future under its trustworthy banner.
