There are many different types of outdoor Christmas yard décor that are available on the market today. There are some animated Christmas décor ideas that can make a statement in the neighborhood.  The outdoor Christmas yard décor ideas can be as varied as the ideas of the people that decorate for that season.  In addition, there are many companies that specialize in Christmas yard décor so that individuals have a multitude of choices when they are adding to their yard collection.  There are also times when an individual might host a Christmas party that has a certain theme and they might want to go more extreme than normal to celebrate.

Figures and Lights

There are some people that like to go with a religious theme in outdoor Christmas yard décor.  There are many different sizes and styles of crèches that are on the market today.  There are some that are made of wood while others are made out of wire or plastic.  Some of the figures are life size or close to that, while others are smaller to fit in the yard more efficiently.  In some of the crèches, there are all of the figures that are mentioned in the Christmas story, such as Mary, Joseph, Jesus, angels, animals, wise men and shepherds.  In others, there are fewer figures, but the crèche still has the main elements in it.  In other religious themes, there are angels blowing their trumpets, as well as lighted crosses to stand in the yard.

There are other people who like to use Santa Claus and his story in their outdoor Christmas yard décor.  In these themes, there is often a Santa Claus in his sleigh that are sitting on the roof of the house, often lighted so that it looks like Santa and the reindeer are moving while up there.  There are other sleighs that are made to sit on the lawn, and there are even Santa's that are made to look like they are just coming out of the chimney of the home.  There are elves and reindeer that can stand in the yard, often moving slowly, thus catching the passerby's eyes.

Other than these regular themes, there are also snowmen that stand happily front and center in the yard, as well as gingerbread men, penguins and other little creatures.  There are many different choices in lights for the home, from icicle lights, netted lights, and strings of lights that can be hung on the home and bushes.
