As a testament to its global success the Prince2 methodology is also used by the British government as the de facto standard for carrying out large and small scale public initiatives. Due to this very reason Prince2 courses have become widely popular among executives and project managers as more and more professionals in the workforce are listing Prince2 practitioner as a qualification in their resumes to boost employer confidence and their overall standing in their chosen field.

Despite its proven success, prince2 projects in particular demand a specific set of skills that go beyond textbook knowledge of the project management methodology in to more practical and on-the job prerequisites of a manager. As in any project managing task, preparation and forethought are fundamental to one’s success and the same goes for Prince2 environment projects. As individuals assuming a position of great responsibility project managers should spend a considerable amount of time planning and designing a work plan beforehand to ensure that detailed and clear instructions can be given to team members once the project officialy begins. Managers should also have a common understanding with team members on the short term and long term tasks and goals of a project and how those specific steps are to be carried out. Preexisting misconceptions should be eliminated and dispelled at length with explanations so that the team feels confident of their designated roles from the outset.

Managers should also monitor the progress of a project at all times as taking an active interest in which individual is performing which task and in what manner is key to the success of any project. Delegation and prioritizing set tasks is also essential as there are only so many responsibilities a manager can take on by him/herself. Completing tasks in order of significance can also relive pressure on the entire team as those junctures are turning points in any task.

Team members must also be evaluated on competency and efficiency from time to time and responsibilities should be added or reduced depending on how each individual is coping with the work load. Managers should also keep in mind that it is in the best interest of the project to remove incompetent or uncooperative team members and bring in new individuals as the ultimate goals of the project may be compromised by continuing to indulge ineffective individuals and by constantly rectifying their mishaps.
