In case such simple treatments do not give any relief to the patient then surgery is advised. But, it is a very simple process and the person can go home on the day of the surgery itself. In case the surgery involves stapling, then the patient requires to be hospitalized.

For getting hemorrhoids relief, there are a few things that a person can do himself. The affected area can be bathed in warm water and over the counter creams can be applied for getting relief for itching. Cold compresses and ice packs also help in reducing the swelling of the affected area. Pads are also available at the pharmacy that numbs the areas which is painful. These can be sued as well.

Hemorrhoids can be prevented if proper care is taken. The diet should contain a good amount of giber and hence it is advisable to include lots of fruits and vegetables in the daily diet. One should not sit for a very long time in the toilet and one should also not stop the urge to go to the toilet. Maintaining a proper body weight also helps the risk of hemorrhoids.
