Knowhow-Now Article

London is a great choice for a Christmas break. It’s one of the biggest and most exciting cities in the world and welcomes tourists from all over the world every year. There are many markets, activities and entertainment options that are only open at Christmas, making the festive season in particular a great time of year to visit England's capital.

One of the main attractions in London over the festive season is the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Running since 2007, the Winter Wonderland, has attracted over 8 million visitors in the relatively short period it has been open. It contains an outdoor ice-rink - the biggest of its kind in the UK - along with a giant observation wheel, a beautiful Christmas market, a circus, cafes, bars, restaurants and many, many, more attractions to keep you and your family entertained. You can also meet Santa in his grotto and ask him directly what you want most for Christmas.

One of the biggest UK Christmas traditions is the rather strange - but fantastically enjoyable - experience of seeing a Pantomime. A Pantomime is a Christmas themed musical theatre production, with a little bit of audience participation mixed in. It is hard to describe to someone that is unfamiliar with it, but it is great fun for people of all ages and backgrounds. London is famous for putting on some of the biggest and best Pantomimes in all of Britain and London’s West End has some of the world’s greatest theatres in which to see them.

London’s Oxford Street is one of the biggest shopping areas in the UK. So if you are looking to get all your shopping done in one place, there may be nowhere better. There are shops covering all genres, brands and tastes. During the festive season it is wonderfully decorated with Christmas lights that will help you keep that festive feeling even if the Christmas shopping is really getting a bit too stressful.

While on holiday you’ll want to stay in nice accommodation and eat well. London has many hotels to suit all tastes and budgets, along with a great number of restaurants and food outlets. London is a very multi-cultural city and it is possible to find cuisine from every corner of the globe there. If you like Chinese food in particular though, then you should definitely visit China town in Soho.

Getting to London should not be hard. The city’s biggest airport, Heathrow, has scheduled flights to and from most of the world’s major cities. There are many transport options to get you from their into London, like the bus, train, underground; or if you prefer the flexibility of having your own car there are also car hire Heathrow airport options.
