Medical assistants carry out administrative and clinical jobs to maintain the offices of specialized doctors like physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and other health practitioners. Medical assistants may work on small scale like administrative medical assistant and clinical medical assistant. Their man task is to update the files and patient records. Some additional tasks may include knowing medical histories, giving details about treatment procedures to the patients, arranging patients for examinations, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens and sometimes performing basic laboratory tests as well. They might give some medical help to the patients if desired. On a large scale there are Ophthalmic medical assistants, optometric assistants, and podiatric medical assistants who help their own specialized doctors. They give a medical help to the specialized doctors.

 

As discussed medical assistants can provide a great deal of medical help to the patients and the doctors. These medical assistants work in well-lighted, clean environments. They keep interacting with other people and might need to handle various responsibilities at one time. Many full-time medical assistants work at regular 40-hour week. However, medical assistants may work part time, evenings, or weekends.

 

Formal training to become a medical assistant is not required but preferred. However, if a medical assistant is engaged jobs like giving injections or taking x-rays, they can only do after passing a test or taking a course. Mostly medical assistants are instructed as per the job requirement to provide medical help.

 

Medical application are for medical purpose only. Medical assistants or the professionals can only render medical applications. One common medical application may include application of a dressing on a wound. Another instance can be related to a dermatologist. This includes applying a medicated or a protective layer on the dry skin of the patient. In other words an oily application for dry skin is done by dermatologist.

 

Medical applications also include the application of some new techniques. Doctors keep inventing new methods to cure some disease. Their application is done in labs on animals.
