Security Issues And Staying Safe While On International Travel Tours

People leave the familiar comforts of one’s home to travel abroad for various reasons. The most frequent reason why people travel is because of their interest towards other cultures and traditions and, of course, for the thrill and fun of it. Having fun outside your own country can be an unforgettable experience of a lifetime but it can also be a nightmare. Imagine falling ill or meeting accidents while on international travel tours or worse losing your travel documents, money or luggage. There are many mishaps that can potentially happen while you are supposed to be living a brief part of your dream.

Tip: If you plan to be travelling for more than a week, make accommodations for your pets. Your neighbor or sister-in-law may assure you that stopping by is not a hassle, but you should not place that obligation on them for any longer than a week.

Are these misfortunes preventable? Understandably, there are some mishaps that are hard to stop like getting sick but most of these can actually be prevented. There are a lot of safety tips that travelers must adhere to if they want to avoid getting tricked and getting into trouble. Here are those precautions that every traveler on international travel tours must follow:

Tip: Be sure that you fully understand the difference between "nonstop" and "direct" flights. Both sound equal but they are not.

1. Plan your trip well. Much of the unpleasantness can be eradicated or minimized when you plan your trip. Check on your itinerary, travel documents, credit and insurance. Are you traveling along with other people in a group tour or are you traveling solo? The latter is definitely risky especially if you are female, yet, one cannot let fears and worries rule over your travel plans. Adopt security measures if you choose to travel solo like doing research and planning particularly in deciding which places to go to, the modes of travel and the accommodations.

Tip: Bring a power strip along with you when you go out of the country. This may seem like a silly idea to some, but if you have a room with two outlets and you have two cell phones, two laptops and an MP3 player that needs recharging, what are you going to do? Having a power strip prevents these dilemmas and also, you will only need to buy one adapter for foreign plugs.

2. Despite the usefulness of having credit cards, ensure that you will have enough cash that is accessible for you without carrying too much cash at one time. Do not open your wallet with all of your money publicly. Use your head whenever you withdraw money from an ATM machine. Never ever withdraw from ATM machines in areas which do not have much lighting. As much as possible, do all of your withdrawing in the morning with a group of people; this is a lot safer. Keep these close to your body all the time along with your travel documents to prevent losing them or being stolen.

Tip: If you are traveling by airplane, call the airline company or airport before you go to the airport. Although many airlines do not make this a requirement anymore, it is a good idea to do so, just in case your flight has been canceled or delayed.

3. Choose your places to stay. Keep the hotel door locked all the time; when eating, taking a bath, relaxing and most importantly, when sleeping. Inform hotel personnel if you one is going to go back late and never leave expensive stuffs like jewelries, gadgets and money in the hotel room when you are not there. Also, before leaving and having fun, make sure that you know the safety drill in the hotel; check all the fire exits and such.

Tip: Use plastic bags when you travel. Pack a few plastic bags, or baggies, into your suitcases.

4. You are out to have fun and meeting people is part of that. It is fine to meet and have fun with people but do not swap information with people you hardly know. Do not accept drinks from strangers you meet in the bars and especially do not bring strangers to your place.

Tip: Walk when you can. To keep your ankles from swelling and your joints from getting sore, stand up and walk whenever you get a chance.

5. Stay alert all the time. To stay alert, one needs to stay sober. Getting drunk is a very wrong decision. Do not drink too much alcohol if you are new to a certain place and as much as possible; do not drink drinks given by other people. Be sure that you know what is in it.

Tip: Avoid the gate until it is actually time to board the plane. Many passengers will crowd the gate, hoping to be the first to be allowed on.

6. Stay in contact with a family or friend back home so they will know exactly where you are as often as possible. If you are doing slow travel and taking back roads most of the time, it is important to inform the locals and seek out security information.

Tip: When considering the purchase of travel insurance, check to see if you might already be covered by your own insurance provider's policy. Some benefits to look for that might be exclusive to travel insurance are cancellation reimbursements, coverage for interruption of the trip, ambulance coverage, and coverage of your lost belongings.

7. Never trust drinking water in the different places you go to. Bring or drink only bottled water all the time. You are never going to know when you’re going to need it, but it pays to bring water purification tablets that you can use when bottled water is not available. You need these especially when traveling by bus or train and in cross-country road trips.

There are many more safety rules for international travel tours that travelers can follow stay safe but without being paranoid . These rules are going to be great help to travelers who want to stay out of trouble. With these rules, one can have fun and at the same time stay safe.
