Through train one has board into narrow gauge line from Kalka leaving broad gauge. Through toy train one has to cover 96kms. From Kalka to Shimla. Well connected and well maintained road will take hardly three and half hour from Chandigarh which is 117kms. from Shimla.
There are innumerable places of interest in Shimla which are worth to be visited few of them are: -  The Mall, is a big flat area where people inevitably walk.  The top of the ridge, a busy shopping area, showrooms, restaurants and architectural marvels of colnial area. Next in the list will be Viceregal lodge know as Indian Institute of Advance studies. It is one of the finest example of extraordinary colonial architecture. Highest point of Shimla is known as Jakhoo hill from where one can see bird eye view of Shimla. Temple is located at Jakhoo and houses one of the tallest statue of Lord Hanuman. 7 kms. from Shimla lies Chadwick fall, it is a waterfall cascading into a deep gorge. Sankat Mocahn temple 7kms. at Taradevi is also one of the must visited place of Shimla, 3kms. ahead one hour trek will take you to Taradevi temple which offers one of the spectacular view of surrounding hills. The splendid view of snow clad mountain ranges, excellent hotels and resorts, golf course at Naldehra and skiing at Narkanda and Kufri make Shimla one of the attractive and must visit place throughout the year for Tourists.
