The emperor Shahjahan was in love with his wife Mumtaz Mahal to such an extent that he took her along with him even to the military campaigns. 14 children were born to couple and the queen died during the birth of child. The emperor was in such a state of shock that he thought of building such a monument that has no parallel in the world.

The grand design

The grand design of Tajmahal India is mesmerizing. It was designed by the famous architect of Iran Ustad Isa. There was no technology at that time. 20000 workers and craftsmen who worked for 22 years to build this majestic monument of love. The top quality marble was brought from across India and central parts of Asia. The stone carving skill used in this monument reflects a strong culture of ancient India.

The greatness behind Taj Mahal

Taj is a white structure made of rich marble. It has white dome and tapering minarets and is an architectural masterpiece on the face of the earth. When you come closer to Taj, you feel as if it is becoming bigger in size. You will notice the detailed craftsmanship of the monument as you come closer. There are inscriptions of Koran laid in black marble. The calligraphy is done in such a way that the letters of inscription maintain a similar size from bottom to top although the top is150 feet away. The ancient calligraphers used optical trick so that the size of the words increases with increasing distance from the eye.

When you see the Taj Mahal India at a first glance, you find everything to be simple but as you go on seeing, you will understand the significance of the monument. The central chamber of the monument of love is octagonal in shape. In the olden days, light music was played and the verses from the Koran were recited.

When you enter central chamber, it is a house to two tombs. One has jewels on it and it belongs to the loving wife of emperor named Mumtaz Mahal. The tomb of Shahjahan is besides this. The actual tombs are under basement.
