Knowhow-Now Article

Packing frail items is one of the toughest parts of the entire moving process. Still, it is a challenge that no homeowner cannot avoid because we've all got breakable items in our homes. Kitchenware alone is typically fragile. Thus, they have to be packed, loaded and unloaded with care otherwise; we risk breaking them beyond repair. These are things that we would like to stay in one piece either because they're unique and tough to find or due to the mawkish price attached to them. So these are the tips that every homeowner should know when packing fragile items to be certain that they reach their destination in one piece.

First, you've got to invest to make sure that your fragile items do not break. That means not placing them in card boxes and buying plastic boxes for them. Why is that? The reason is card boxes are just held together by packing tape. Since most of the breakable things are heavy, the packing tape could give in, causing everything within to fall once you pick up the box and break once it hits the ground. That would never happen with a plastic container so it's an investment that's worth making. If you could get a plastic container with handle, that's even better so you will not have difficulty during the loading and unloading process.

Second, start saving newspapers and any bit of paper early on. You will need a lot of it to wrap around your fragile items as they serve as cushion. You can also place them if there are spaces between items. The more compact they are in their container, the safer they will be from breaking. You may exploit whatever cloths you have at home to damage the impact. Employ towels, shirts and even pillows as protection for your precious frail things.

Third, remember to place the heavier items at the base of the storage container. That way, they are powerful enough to carry the weight of the lighter ones. The flat ones should be placed below too so that when you place the irregularly formed ones on top, they are going to be in a position to carry the weight.

Last, for products that are extra-special to you, use bubble wrap on them instead of newspaper. This would protect them better.
