1. Basic items- fancy items or clothing may be very tempting to buy but the best pieces for you to buy are the basic items, these includes a set of denim pants, the classic black dress for all occasions, plain tank tops and t shirts. Those items will never go out of style and will help you save money because you don’t have to buy new clothing every time the season changes. 

2. Flea markets- these are very helpful when you are trying to go for cheaper prices. Not only will you score low prices but you can even haggle for it too. You can find similar items in flea markets at half the price compared to the one you see in malls or signature clothing. 

3. Look for less- you can find celebrities wearing fabulous items in magazines. They may be very fashionable but the prices are staggering. Look for cheaper items that are similar-looking with the signature pieces. You’ll get the same look with breaking your wallet. 

4. Discounts and sales- most stores give out student or senior citizen discounts so why not ask for them? They may give you 10-20% every time you shop. Wait for sales as well. They usually conduct a sale at the end of each season or during the holidays; you may get up 70% discounts on sales. 

5. Control credit usage- your credit card can give you a lot of problems if you don’t know how to use it well. Don’t forget that you will be receiving a bill every end of the month and if you miss paying for it, you will be hurting your credit scores and your credit report. To avoid overspending and damaging your credit, always stay 25 to 30% below your limit. 

6. Bring a friend with you- it always is more fun to go shopping with a friend. If you have someone with you, you can ask him/her to tell you to stop when you’re starting to overspend. Plus, you get to enjoy their company and their comments while shopping

7. Bring just the right amount of cash- if you want to go out shopping, bring only the amount that you are willing to spend. Bringing more money will only tempt you to spend compulsively and in the end you’ll regret everything as soon as you realize that your wallet is empty.
