Compared to other nations worldwide, America consumes electrical energy the most. Our world is dealing with really serious issues like pollution and the ozone layer depletion so it is imperative that we do our best to save energy and, in turn, save our environment.
Today, we will cover just a couple of things you can do to help save energy and also save a little bit of money daily. These things are extremely simple to do that anyone can do them; even so, you will need to take action for it to work and doing so you will help save our environment.
Just turning off the lights whenever you go out of a room in your home is one of the things you can do to save power. Many of us probably temporarily leave the living room lights switched on when we go to the kitchen to get food because we think we are coming right back. Leaving the room empty with the lights switched on can lead to as much as thirty minutes or more of consumed energy if done several times a day. While you consuming what could be thirty minutes of electricity each day may not seem like much, remember that millions of other people are doing it as well. And each soul who does this is consuming 182 hours of electrical energy every year for just this one light. Let's suppose that we actually leave the lights switched on for approximately 182 hours every single year and let's multiply that by one million people. The figure comes to an astounding 182 million hours of consumed energy that is essentially coming from one single room in every individual's home.
Aside from leaving the lights switched on when going out of a room, most of us turn the lights on when walking into a room. This has become something that's done by a lot of people. I often catch myself doing it too. The issue is that often, there is adequate light coming into a room. You will nevertheless go in and turn the light on. And aside from that, because of the natural light getting in, we tend to forget we turned the room light on in the first place and leave it on for the rest of the day. You just need to make a conscious effort to not switch the lights on during the day unless you have to.
One more issue is people leaving electric devices like TVs and radios switched on the entire day, even when they are not using them. A great example is my mother; she's always leaving the Telly switched on in the living room, even though she's may be in the kitchen making a meal or cleaning the rest of the house. That's a ton of electricity being consumed. Therefore, if you are not watching TV, simply switch it off.
These are simply a couple of simple things that can be done every day to help save electrical energy and to help save the Earth by doing so. If every person makes just a tiny effort to do these very simple things, it can add up to make a great difference.
