India has been known all across the world for its colourful and beautiful attires. Indian clothing’s since centuries have been inspired by variations like geography and religious beliefs. If one notices the current tends of fashion industry in India, they will easily identify that it has, replicated the sheen, styles, patterns and designs of the bygone years, the era of the royalty, where extravagant expenditures were made on attires and jewelleries. Indian costumes are admired for their plethora of colours and for being natural, contemporary and craft based. Ethnic wears that often finds its way to the wardrobe of an Indian includes Kurta, Turban, Salwar Kameez, Sari, Sherwani and Dhoti.

Kurta in ancient times wear worn specially by men in India. It is quite similar to a loose long or small shirt that either falls above or below an individual’s knees. Today this costume is worn by both men and women. Turban is a headgear that comprises of a long piece of cloth. This piece is unstitched and is worn by wrapping around ones head. Salwar Kameez is often referred as a Punjabi dress and is worn by Indian women. Sari is a beautiful traditional attire of a woman and its draping style often differs from one state to another like Northern pride , Bengali or Devdas , Maharastrian , Gujarati , Tuck, Ghagra , Double , Mumtaz etc style drapes. Sherwani is quite similar to an achkan style and resembles a very long coat. Dhoti is an Indian traditional costume for men and comprises of 5 yard long unstitched cloth. This attire is worn by tying it around the waist and legs. Elegant designs, luxurious textiles and attention to minute detailing makes ethnic wear quite suited for all occasions, be it an essential social ceremony or just enjoying a function at your home in a perfect ambience and style. Albeit many first generation men and women in India, still prefer to wear traditional costumes yet the newer generations seems to be quite experimental. New generation is inclined more towards western and Indo –western suits. Western trends have found its way to the hearts of millions of Indian and have blended well.

Indian women love wearing tailor made and made to fit attires. These fashions differs from village to village, one town to the other and is marked by vibrant colours, very rich tradition and are quite alluring. Striking colours designed by the innovative drapes of these fabrics tends to tap innovation like no other traditional dresses. The constant changes in the Indian Clothing fashion is keeping fashion designers busy. One can be rest assured that the ethnic apparels, are inspired by the current Indian patterns . Some are adorned with delicate embroidery work in pleasing designs which makes the apparel elegant and smart enough to be worn for regular family gatherings or a small tea party session with your friends. Indian attires go well with all age groups and have a great acceptance not only in India but also in the international market. The designs are often created considering the season and fabric trends’ and come in different sizes and lengths.
