One of the things Liverpool is famous for is its range of diverse galleries that feature world class artists, so stop by one or all of the top 5 galleries and fill up on art on your trip to Liverpool.

The Tate Liverpool is an international and contemporary art gallery on the Albert Dock on the waterfront. Built in 1988, it is one of the famous Tate galleries and features the national collection of British art. Each year, people from all over the world flock to the Tate Liverpool to see its famous modern artworks, and marvel at the temporary exhibitions of world class artists that complement the permanent collection.

Not strictly an art gallery, the Museum of Liverpool still has loads of beautiful artwork on display in its massive gallery rooms. Newly opened in the summer of 2011, the Museum of Liverpool has already attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors who have been impressed with how the museum uses art to tell the story of Liverpool's history.

The Gallery Liverpool is another popular gallery in Liverpool, constantly reinventing itself with new exhibitions and visiting artists. The gallery is located on the upper floor of an industrial unit in the Independent Cultural District, but don't be fooled by its discreet setting. Here you can find a nice blend of local and international artists side by side on the walls, and the Gallery Liverpool is an integral part of the vibrant art community in the city.

The Walker Art Gallery is a free admission gallery housing one of the largest collections of art in England. Opening officially in 1877, the Walker Art gallery is named after its benefactor, Sir Andrew Barclay Walker, a former mayor of the city, and features the works of famous international artists from 1300 onwards, and an annual temporary exhibit highlights more modern works.

Sudley House is another amazing gallery in Liverpool worth a visit. Walk inside this old Victorian home and take a look at the beautiful period furniture and classic paintings in the former merchant's house. The gallery is free to visit and still retains many of its original features, making this place a must-see for any history buff or anyone who wants to see what life was like in Victorian times.

These are just a handful of the many galleries and museums in Liverpool, and you could easily spend your entire day going from gallery to gallery viewing and purchasing world class art. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, stay over in one of the many Liverpool hotels and get a good night's rest before you head back out exploring the next day. No matter which gallery you visit, your trip to Liverpool will be truly inspiring.
