Knowhow-Now Article

In the build up to Christmas, people all over the world begin to prepare for the long awaited festivities, typically marked by family gatherings, gastronomic experiences and gift exchanges.

Christmas is generally a time for giving – and as the tradition has evolved, exchanging gifts on the special day have become common place in western culture. With a barrage of push communication advertising the latest "must haves", buying gifts for loved ones and splurging on Christmas essentials has the potential to place significant strain on the pocket.

No surprise with the country which boasts the 10th healthiest economy in the world, Canadians appear to be good at putting money aside for upcoming festivities to lessen the burden on finances. In a recent online survey, 43% of Canadian respondents were likely or highly likely to put money aside during the year to spend on holiday seasons. When asked to select from an array of options from which to earn additional cash, the findings were unanimous, with 78% of respondents selecting online surveys as their preferred method.

Online surveys have become increasingly popular ways of earning that little bit extra. In a recent industry report, figures showed that market research spend in Canada grew by 5.5% in 2010 with growth expected through 2011. Of more interest to those who find online survey taking a means of earning a little extra money, the use of online surveys as a quantitative form of market research has been increasing exponentially year on year with future growth likely to continue through 2012.

Good news for your avid survey taker, since more online surveys means more reward earning opportunities. Taking online surveys is free, quick and easy. Once a member of an online panel, email invitations will be sent to the email address used to join the online panel. The more information you provide, the more chances of receiving survey invites there will be. After completing the survey, points are generally rewarded in exchange for valued opinions given. It’s these opinions after all which help shape the products and services consumers use every day.

The types of rewards which can be earned vary – from offline gift certificates to online e-vouchers and more recently virtual credit to use on social networks. Irrespective, online survey companies generally provide a range of rewards which appeal to a wide audience.

Provided members are committed to providing honest and thorough opinions, saving up enough points from completing online surveys can lessen the burden of the potential expense associated with festive holiday celebrations. In a recent paid online survey 63% of respondents said they will be considering making extra money to put towards their Christmas spend just by completing more online surveys. Although taking surveys online won’t make you rich, earning rewards in exchange for completing them seems a rewarding way of earning more towards making your festive celebrations that little bit more special.
