Knowhow-Now Article

When you get a wedding invitation in the post you might feel excited. Dinner, dancing, drinks- what could be better? A feeling of dread then sinks in as you realise you have nothing appropriate to wear. If it’s a daytime wedding you’ll want to dress smart yet more casual than if it’s an evening do; if it’s summer you’ll want to choose more lightweight fabrics than if it was winter.

For women it’s perhaps easier to make your choice. A bright-coloured short dress for day or a long chiffon number for a nighttime soiree. If you’re a guy, however, your wardrobe is typically smaller. You have your nice jeans you wear out, your black work trousers and a dark suit you wear to funerals. If you want to be on trend for the wedding, a work party or classy night out you’ll have to get something that fits right, feels right and looks right.

Spring/Summer 2012 fashion trends for guys include sophisticated, well-groomed looks. Your clothes should show off your physique rather than hide it; so choose items that fit just right. It isn’t the ‘90s anymore, so say goodbye to your loose-fitting and downright baggy items. No matter what size you are, pick a suit that fits well. A suit that’s too big for you or is in any way ill-fitting won’t do you any favours. The trend is to look streamlined, so if you are of a smaller build choose a slim or skinny fit suit to flatter your trim legs.

If it’s a wedding you’re attending, you might want to go classic and choose the always-in black, charcoal or grey suit. However, if you’re looking to stand out a bit more, why not pick a dapper three piece suit? You can even go the extra step and accessorise with a pocket square. Or, if you’re the fun-loving life-of-the-party guy, why not go for another suit trend this summer and wear a bright colour? Yellow, coral and aqua suits are all the rage and work perfectly for those summer parties and work nights out you’ll be attending this season. Blue suits in particular were featured in designer collections like Prada and Lanvin for SS12 and lucky for you, their looks have been translated to the high street and sold at more affordable prices.

Finally, if you’re feeling the heat this summer you can try a shorts suit. It’s the perfect answer to beating the heat while still looking sharp. High fashion designers like Hugo Boss included shorts suits in their range for this summer so don’t be afraid to get out there and grab yourself a high street version. You can even combine trends and get a coloured shorts suit.

Thus, there are so many suit options available this summer, so don’t be afraid to try out a new style; you might just be the trendiest one at the party.
