Knowhow-Now Article

During the wintertime, you get so used to bundling up in layer after layer that it's easy to forget the ease of spring and summertime fashion. Though the thought of walking outdoors in nothing but a t-shirt and a pair of shorts may seem like a far way off, it's time to start thinking about making the transition from winter to spring. While warm trousers and woolly jumpers may have been your staple items over the last few months, it's time to start thinking about lighter, more breathable fabrics and that cool, casual summer style.

As the winter months fade into the past, one of the main wardrobe changes you'll be making is the transition from rugged boots to casual, beach-inspired footwear. Start your spring style on the right foot by sporting a trendy pair of boat shoes or some funky espadrilles. Pick out a stylish flip-flop for those extra sunny days, and don't be afraid to go for bright colours like Kelly green or cobalt blue. Canvas plimsolls are also an ideal choice for summertime footwear, as they're lightweight yet durable at the same time.

Of course, one of the most tell-tale signs that spring has arrived is the appearance of shorts on the high-street shelves. After an entire season of long trousers, treat yourself to a pair of comfy shorts, a staple of any spring wardrobe. For a preppy, nautical look, go for some navy boat shorts or tailored, straight-leg khaki shorts. Or, go bold with some funky paisley printed shorts or a pair in red or tan suede. Though shorts are often thought of as the ultimate in casual wear, you can dress them up with some trendy loafers, a vintage t-shirt and a casual blazer.

One of the best parts of springtime fashion is getting to wear short-sleeved t-shirts for the first time in months. From solid-coloured V-necks to vintage- inspired printed tees, there are so many different types of mens t-shirts to choose from; so, let your unique personality be your style guide. If you're a music fan (or a musician yourself), choose t-shirts that feature the logo of your favourite band. If you're into 'hipster' fashion, go for a shirt with a vintage brand logo or a trendy patterned print. Choosing the right t-shirt fit can also help you achieve a certain look. For example, tight-fitting shirts are ideal for an edgy urban look, whereas a slightly looser fitting t-shirt is better for an athletic look.

So, as the sun starts to return from its hibernation, it's time to put your winter coats and rugged boots into storage and make way for the latest spring fashion trends. Though spring silhouettes are quite simple, with shorts and a t-shirt being the basis of most warm weather looks, don't forget to pick items that truly represent your unique fashion point of view.
