2 Important Points In Search Engine Optimization

Getting your site to the standards required by search engines such as Google can be both hard and very easy.

The hard part is when you already have a complex site that is not up to standards and you are forced to make a lot of changes to it. The easy part is when you start out new with a new site and build it with search engine optimization in mind.

Tip: There are many different ways to optimize a search engine. You will get the best results if the system is set to achieve the maximum efficiency with searches.

Whichever your case may be, here are two important points to keep in mind. Remember that each site is different, but these rules apply to most web sites in general.

The Foundation

Tip: Consider pay-per-click arrangements as a means to lucrative affiliate marketing. In order to expand your exposure and potentially your income, you can be an affiliate site carrying advertisements for other related sites and you can use affiliate sites to try to generate more traffic to your site.

Right from the start, pick a site design and coding system that gets along well with search engine crawlers. Search engines periodically send out 'spiders' or 'crawlers' to scan your site. These are small digital robots that exist only in coded form and search your site for relevant information. They basically try to find out what your site is all about and send that data back to their mainframe. They are programmed to look out for certain things and ignore others. If they like what they see then this has a positive outcome on the search results, so often SEO means not making the human surfer happy, but these virtual robots.

Thus pick a design these spiders like. WordPress or other publishing platforms are built with web standards in mind and are search engine optimized right out of the box. So instead of building a side from the grounds up in HTML, you might want to consider going the publishing platform way.

Keep Up The Flow

Once the site is up, keep up the ebb and flow of data. A lof of website owners make the mistake of assuming that a web site is like a billboard: set it up, forget about it and watch the business roll in.

Tip: Try to avoid using a lot of symbols like underscores in a URL. The reason is because these things confuse the spiders.

This couldn't be further from the truth. A site is like a branch of your business and like any other branch it requires someone to take care of it, to sweep the floor, update the products and deal with the customers. Particularly the last part is important. The clients need a reason to come to your site and often free information is the key. As long as you give them that in form of always fresh articles, videos, etc, on the subject you are selling, you can count on a regular flow of traffic. This automatically translates into SEO. Search engines highly respect information sites. Although you may have a business page, if the spiders see you giving out information, then they will give you a higher preference in the search engine ranking.

Running a site is a lot of work. But having it set up with search engine optimization in mind right from the launch will make things easier by far. Just keep yourself and the site up to date with the newest developments in search engines, and your site will enjoy more traffic and business.
