As a mom, your family is your priority, however; you should still be putting your best face forward! Use the following tips to help keep you looking beautiful without spending lots of time on yourself that could otherwise be spent changing the diapers, folding the laundry and making an irresistible dinner!
1. Start with a fabulous haircut. Don't opt for the most glamorous or expensive style, get a cut that looks great under (almost) any circumstances. Specifically tell your hairdresser that you want a wash and go that will work with your busy lifestyle and avoid the bad hair days that come with a complicated styling regimen.
2. Use make-up that saves time. A great concealer, lengthening mascara and shimmering highlighter can whip-up a gorgeous look in minutes, so have products that you can depend on to complete your routine in a flash. This way if the kids take up too much of your prep time when you're going out, you can still look amazing and feel confident.
3. Learn to let go of stress. Having children may be the most rewarding experience in life, but it's also the most stressful. All the worrying, protecting and providing for will wear out your looks prematurely, so find a way to vent stress. Even if it's just spending time with a steamy romance novel or meditating on the yoga mat for half and hour, make sure you cleanse your body and soul of daily stress.
4. Get your nails done professionally. Nails that are professionally manicured look better and last longer, giving you more free time for other things. Visiting the salon also gives you a few minutes of peace and quiet (or juicy gossiping) that you otherwise wouldn't have. Treat yourself to a weekly or bi-weekly manicure for beautiful nails and more.
5. Shower after the kids have gone to bed. You can't really devote yourself to beautifying if your toddler bursts into the bathroom every five minutes, demanding your attention. You won't be in mad rush to get out the door quickly either if you wait until after hours, giving you plenty of time to shave, soften and let the water soothe you.
6. Make water a priority. No matter how else your diet may be compromised by your busy lifestyle, make sure water is never a sacrifice. Drink the recommended eight or more glasses every day for more beautiful skin and healthier insides too. Add lemon or lime for flavor if you find plain water boring, but make no excuses for yourself when it comes to hydration.
7. Use accessories to your advantage. Some women will spend hours getting ready to go out, while others avoid wasting that time by accessorizing! Learn what flatters and matches and keep everything organized in your closet for quick access. Spend quality time shopping so that you have the basic elements and add-ons that only make you look like you spent way too much time getting ready!
Making time for beauty is good for your soul and will give you more confidence and energy. As you run around taking care of everyone else, think of the ways you need to look after yourself too!
