Feng Shui Tips For Happy And Healthy Living

Everyone wants to live a happy and healthy life and people want to use every possible means to achieve this. Aside from going to gyms and adopting various healthful diets, many people resort to lucky charms and fortune telling to get a little extra help. For many centuries, feng shui has performed a similar function and from its long practice there is an abundant collection of feng shui tips for happy and healthy living. You can check these tips out and see for yourself that they do make sense.

A Practical View of Feng Shui

Translated literally, feng shui means “wind-water,” but beyond these words, feng shui is an ancient practice where the placement of objects is carefully implemented to bring harmony, balance, and comfort in one’s immediate surroundings and in one’s life. A basic tenet in feng shui is to create spaces and pathways that allow energy to flow freely and bring positive aspirations to life.

Some Practical Tips

1. The first of many feng shui tips regarding a home or a dwelling place is to make sure your doorway and entry space are free from both obstacles and clutter. A decorative sculpture or an attractive plant may have aesthetic value in itself but in terms of feng shui, these items are obstacles that hinder the flow of good energy.

2. Make sure you have good air quality and proper ventilation. If you live in the country where fresh air is plentiful, open your windows and doors regularly with the intention of letting good air in. If you live in a congested urban area where the air is full of unhealthy particles, purify the air by growing an indoor garden or looking for an air purifier.

Tip: Do your own homework if you can't afford a professional designer. The Internet, library, home improvement store and bookstores are great tools for increasing your knowledge.

3. Allow natural light to enter your home. Clean your windowsills of dust and clutter; remove things that dim your windows. If you live in a place where natural lighting is not sufficient for a well-lit house then use lamps or other lighting products. Don’t live in the dark!

4. Clear out things that are stuck under the bed. These block good energy flow so take away those shoes and vacuum that dust away.

5. Remove clutter from your living space. Clutter will sap your energy and create many unpleasant incidents in your life as you spend precious time trying to look for things. Get rid of things you no longer use such as old magazines, shoes you no longer wear, chipped plates and socks that you can’t match. Clutter obstructs good energy and eats up space that you should keep open for new, good things.

6. Switch to organic décor. Use clay, plants and wood wherever you can. These provide warmth and energy.

7. Paint your kitchen in a color that makes you feel good. You can also analyze things from the perspective of need and use a color that promotes meeting that need. For example, if you want to have a better appetite then make sure there is some red in your kitchen paint.

8. Arrange your furniture so that there is always three feet of open space between the pieces or between seating arrangements for good energy flow. Make sure you can move unhampered from one arrangement to the next.

Tip: If you find water leaking through your ceiling, it's a good bet you need a new roof. Ignoring the problem can make it worse.

9. A good night’s sleep is the only way to start a good day. Sleep well with your head positioned so that you can see the door without having your bed directly aligned to it. Make sure your bed can be easily approached from both sides and have a bedside lamp on each side.

These feng shui tips are not at all hard to implement and are actually nothing more than bits of practical knowledge. However, they can do a lot to make your life more pleasant and comfortable and there you have the beginnings of a happy, healthy life.
