The pursuit of healthy and flawless skin can be a rewarding journey. The termination of annoying pimples, discolorations, sun spots, blackheads and weird patches would be the least of your worries and you won’t miss them at all – good riddance you say!
So, how is your progress on your healthy and flawless skin journey? Have you been sucked into buying a new skin product every week? Are you applying up to 10 different anti-aging products per day? Do you have several products in the same category, example, do you have 3 different cleansers?
Your skincare routine is a vital part to having healthy and flawless skin, sort of like your lungs are a vital organ to you having good health. Even though there are millions of different options of skincare products, it is best to keep your routine as simple as possible. One of the simplest routines for great skin includes a cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Let’s dig a little deeper.
Cleanser is important because it removes dirt, grime, makeup, sweat, bacteria, dead skin cells and oil from the skin’s surface. Lathering cleansers are great for combination and oily skin and Non-Lathering cleansers are great for normal and dry skin. Facial cleansing should occur at least twice per day.
Toner is important for balancing the skin’s PH levels and for removing leftover dirt and grime that your cleanser didn’t tackle. Toners are often confused with astringents which contain alcohol and can be very drying. Toners are refreshing and greatly improve the health of your skin.
Moisturizer is important for protecting and hydrating the skin. Added benefits also include, younger looking skin, easier makeup application and smooth and soft skin.
Implementing a simple skincare routine starts with focusing on the essentials. Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer are the nitty-gritty fundamentals to having a simple routine that gets results. Everything else and all other products are considered the accessories. In other words, they don’t matter if the foundation of a great skin routine is not in place.

This week’s feature article on ‘How simple is your Simple Skincare Routine?’ is full of great information that will help you with choosing simple skincare routine. The technique used for cleansing your skin is very important in this process. So, here is what I recommend:
1. Make sure all of your hair is out of your face.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Wet your face with warm water or steam to open your pores.
4. Place a nickel size amount of cleanser on your hands.
5. Use fingertips to massage the cleanser all of the face in a circular motion. Spend 30 seconds on each area, forehead, nose, nostril area, mouth, chin and cheeks. Don’t forget your neck! Use upward strokes for cleansing the neck.
6. Rinse face with tepid water.
7. Dry face by patting very gently with a clean and dry towel.
8. Use toner and moisturizer according to its directions after your face is cleansed.
This routine may seem like a lot to do at first, but remember it takes 21 days to form a habit. Then it becomes part of your lifestyle. Proper skincare leads to a healthy skin glow.
