Knowhow-Now Article

It hardly seems possible, but Christmas is once again not far around the corner. This time of year always brings with it the need to make plans for all the festivities that are soon to be here.

It’s not surprising then that among all the shopping trips, parties and plans everyone has to deal with, they are thinking about what to wear and how to look for these festive occasions. Everyone's personal appearance means a lot to them, and one thing it is lovely to have at this time of year (and indeed all year round) is a nice sparkling smile.

If you feel insecure about your teeth it can really put a dent in your confidence. This is true every day of the year, but since many people get out and about more and attend many parties and celebrations over Christmas it’s easy to see how they might feel even more aware of what they look like.

Fortunately you still have some time left until the party season actually kicks off, so now is the best time of all to start improving the way they look. The most important thing is, of course, to brush your teeth twice a day, every day. If you’re tired by bedtime it can be all too easy to forget to brush them. But make sure you make the time – just two or three minutes of brushing will suffice – and you will get your reward with much cleaner and brighter teeth.

There are various toothpastes around that help to improve the look and feel of your teeth as well. If you think they are discoloured then you might want to try whitening toothpaste to help. Try and cut down on the amount of tea, coffee and red wine you drink as well. If you drink these regularly you will notice your teeth will become more stained. Even if you stop drinking them from now until Christmas, you could find that you notice some improvement.

Be sure to floss regularly as well. This will ensure that any food that gets caught in between your teeth is actively removed twice a day. You won’t want bad breath when you go to any parties or celebrations over Christmas, and food caught in between your teeth can be a big cause of this. You might also want to fit in a quick dental check up and polish before Christmas, just to make sure you have the best possible look you can get.

If you have dental cover you should find you can get money back on your dental visits. But you can do a lot at home to ensure you have the most sparkling smile in the room this festive season.
