When you’re building your business, one of the most important things that you can do is have consistent effort. You have to be doing activities on a daily basis that will allow you to move your business along. This is key.
These activities shouldn’t be frivilous things. But, they should be things that really matter to making money. In this case, apply the 80/20 rule. As you may already know, the 80/20 rule states that 80% of the output, or results, generally comes from 20% of the input, or work. Why is knowing this important?
Many Network Marketers have another job, many times they have a full-time job. So, most Network Marketers only have a couple of hours a day (if that) to work on their businesses. So, they don’t have time to do a bunch of activities to grow their businesses. They may only have time for only 1 or 2 things a day. So, if that’s your situation and you’re wondering which one or two things you should be focusing most of your attention on, think about this 80/20 principle. So, how do you apply this principle?
Out of all the activities that are important to grow your business, think about the one activity that makes you the most money. From my experience, the most productive activity that you could be doing every day is directly contacting new prospects. That’s where your money comes from – prospects! So, what I would suggest is that if you’re just getting your business started without a lot of helpers, your primary activity should be prospecting. Every day without fail, you should be prospecting. Once your business grows, then you can have others prospect for you.
Once you’ve become more comfortable with closing and you start getting more clients in your business, then it would be a waste of your time to be prospecting. Your most profitable activity would then be closing. Once you’ve gotten a bigger downline, then you can have people prospecting and closing on their own.
I’ll go into this strategy much more in detail in another article. But, the point that I want to bring out in this article is the importance of determining which activity should go first unconditionally, since you will never be able to do it all. So, whether you’re a new marketer or have been doing it for a little while, we want to always on a regular basis keep reevaluating ourselves to see if what we’re doing is the most efficient.
So, whether it’s an hour a day, 2 hours a day, or 6 hours a day, you want to do something EVERY SINGLE DAY. And when you apply the 80/20 rule to this, it could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a monthly basis.
Remember: a house is built one brick at a time.
