It is no surprise that men of this generation may have different prostate health concerns. Men may experience different types of prostate problems which start mostly during middle age. In fact, there are three common types of prostate problems that are really life-disabling for the affected patient.
1. Prostatitis. In few cases, prostatitis is might be because of bacterial infection. In fact, there are two types: acute and chronic prostatitis. The symptoms the patient may experience in this condition may include fever, chills, pain at the low back, and difficulty in urination. Meanwhile, chronic prostatitis is a recurring form of this condition. Antibiotics are usually prescribed as a medication to alleviate infection.
2. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. This is an enlargement of the prostate wherein PH level in blood is tested. When the size of the prostate increases and starts to press the urethra, this obstructs the urine flow. Urinary tract infection is also possible in BPH. There are different kinds of treatment options that could be given such as nonsurgical transurethral process and medicines like PVP and TUIP. These methods lessen the development of the prostate tissue. For severe cases of BPH, transurethral resection of the prostate are then prescribed.
3. Prostate Cancer. This is considered to be a malignancy. The patient could have some of the symptoms since the progression of the disease is gradual. The manifestations are the same with BPH especially if the disease process progresses on its advance stage. But, it could metastasize to other body parts and organs. Doctors would ordered specific therapeutic regimens depending n the stage of the cancer and the patient's age. If the cancer is still in its first stage, then most probably the doctor will give medications and other forms of therapeutic procedures. Surgical procedure is also the best option if the cancer is restricted to prostate gland. Chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, and cryosurgery are other management protocols are administered based on the stage of the cancer.
So, these are just some of the different prostate problems that men could have. To avoid complications of prostate problems, always ask your doctor's advice and have a regular physical examination to check if you are manifesting one of the prostate problems mentioned above.
